Java Application Architect at the European Commission
An Application Architect is needed to join a project at the European Commission.
The challenge
As an Application Architect your tasks and responsibilities will include:
Architecture and design of new information systems.
• Review of the architecture of existing systems
• Design of component architecture and building blocks
• Analysis of the integration of different information systems
• Development and maintenance of software applications and components
• Data analysis and data modelling
• Coordination of the implementation of the technical architecture
• Review technical documentation, including code review
• Participation in technical working groups, progress meetings and meetings with the users
• Troubleshoot the technical issues in all our environments (including production priority one
issues)
• Build and deploy new releases, executing all the necessary steps (e.g. database updates)
• Configure software on local environments
Skills required
Good knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture
• Knowledge of interoperability technology (e.g. web services, message oriented middleware, service oriented bus)
• Proven experience with web services (SOAP and REST)
• Good knowledge of applications design
• Good knowledge of modelling tools
• Good knowledge of Object Oriented Programming languages
• Good knowledge of Enterprise Architecture
• Good knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems
• In-depth knowledge and proven experience with Oracle SQL
• In-depth knowledge and proven experience with Java EE technologies
• In-depth knowledge and proven experience with the Spring Framework
• In-depth knowledge and proven experience with the Hibernate Framework
• Proven experience with XML and XSD
• Good knowledge of front end frameworks and libraries (e.g. Angular)
• Good knowledge of deployment and continuous integration tools (e.g. Maven, Jenkins, Bamboo, Fisheye, Crucible, JUnit)
• Proven experience in Agile development methodologies (such as SCRUM, Kanban)
• Fluent in English
Salary and Conditions
Location: Brussels, BE
Salary up to: 550€/day
Worksite type: On-site only
Contract type: Freelancer or Employee
Client: European Commission
Other points of the offer
The salary/daily rates presented are the maximum as a freelancer when meeting all criteria.
Belgium permanent employment contract is also one option, with salaries around 3000-3750€ net, when meeting all criteria.
