Cloud Architect at European Commission
Cloud Architect (AWS or Azure) is needed to join a cloud centre of excellence unit of the European Commission.
The challenge
Some of the tasks to be carried out:
o Architecture and design of information systems hosted on the cloud
o Review of code and architecture of existing systems
o Design of architecture components and building blocks
o Documentation and presentation of lessons learned from different cloud services and architectural patterns to technical teams in the European institutions.
o Participation in technical working groups, progress meetings and meetings with the users
o Creation of Cloud Accounts.
o (Heavily Automated) Setting up cloud account security.
o Assistance during relevant parts of testing, analysis, technical documentation, deployment, evaluation and reporting
Skills required
o Ability to cope with fast-changing technologies used in application architecture and design
o Good knowledge of at least one cloud service, AWS or Azure, and their corresponding Infrastructure-as-Code technologies.
o Good knowledge of at least one strongly-typed object-oriented language (ex java or c#)
o Knowledge of security-oriented cloud services, such as Azure Sentinel, Azure Security Center or AWS Security Hub.
o Knowledge of microservices architecture design, development, deployment and instrumentation
o Knowledge of applications design
o Knowledge of interoperability technology (e.g. message-oriente middleware, Event Hubs or similar)
o Knowledge of both relational and/or non-relational data stores
o Ability to give technical presentations
o Ability to apply high-quality standards
o The capability of integration in an international/multicultural environment.
Salary and Conditions
Location: Brussels, BE
Salary up to: 470€/day
Worksite type: On-site only
Contract type: Freelancer or Employee

Other points of the offer
The salary/daily rates presented are the maximum as a freelancer when meeting all criteria.
Belgium permanent employment contract is also one option, with salaries around 2500-3500€ net, when meeting all criteria.
